WHY JOURNALISM

At an early age, I was heavily involved in theater. I did musicals and plays every school year and summer. When I went to junior high school, the school had a morning television newscast. The idea of being an anchor was super exciting to me. Anchoring my junior high school news cast quickly evolved into a deep interest and fascination with all aspects of video production from filming to editing to writing to graphics.

I was really able to develop my skills at my high school, which had a nationally ranked film and television program. When applying to colleges, I had to choose between cinema and journalism because I knew I wanted to be pre-med and couldn't do all three. I chose journalism because I love telling real stories through not only video but writing, graphics, and other forms of web multimedia.
